WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026. BULKHEAD has said it expects to spend between 12 and 24 months in Early Access, with the exact length driven by player feedback.
Platforms
Early Access is Windows PC only, via Steam. BULKHEAD has not announced PlayStation or Xbox versions. The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat, which runs at kernel level — worth knowing if you have a policy about that. Steam lists English plus 13 additional languages, including French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Chinese and Ukrainian.
Editions and price
| Edition | USD | GBP | EUR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $39.99 | GBP 36.99 | EUR 39.99 |
| Supporter | $49.99 | GBP 45.99 | EUR 49.99 |
The Supporter Edition adds cosmetic items only:
- Three weapon camos
- A helicopter camo
- A supporter scoreboard icon
- Cosmetic bobbleheads
BULKHEAD has also described a stepped pricing model that rewards earlier supporters, so the Early Access price is the low point rather than a discount off a fixed number.
What is in the Early Access build
Confirmed content at launch:
- Three maps, with three variations each — infantry and vehicle combat throughout
- Three factions — LONESTAR, VALKYRA and MANTICORE (see the factions page)
- Vehicles — ATVs, APCs, tanks, helicopters and civilian vehicles, with fighter jets planned during Early Access
- Building and destruction via the War Dynamics Framework
- Proximity voice chat across all three teams
- Server browser matchmaking, killcam (disabled in hardcore mode) and ghillie suits
The Closed Beta Weekend
The Closed Beta ran 21-23 August 2026, open to anyone who pre-purchased on Steam. It was BULKHEAD’s large-scale stress test ahead of launch — servers, vehicles, the destruction system, and the three-team format under real load. Pre-purchasers received guaranteed access.
Should you buy at launch?
An honest framing rather than a recommendation:
- Early Access means unfinished. Three maps with variations is a modest launch footprint for a 100-player game; the appeal is the format, not the content volume.
- The monetisation position is unusually player-friendly — no battle pass, no purchasable currency, cosmetics only.
- The format is the risk. Three-team, presence-scored warfare with a persistent economy is not a proven mainstream shape. Whether it holds up depends on population, which depends on launch.
