WARDOGS Controls, Voice Chat, Pings and Keybinds
Configure WARDOGS squad and proximity voice chat, locate communication keybinds, use pings and fix common microphone problems without risky system changes.
WARDOGS separates private squad communication from local proximity voice. Proximity chat can reveal your position to nearby enemies, so use short calls and switch to squad chat for information that must travel safely.
Enable voice chat
- Open Settings → Audio.
- Enable Voice Chat, Squad Voice Chat and Proximity Voice Chat.
- Select the correct input and output devices.
- Open Settings → Controls → Keybinds and find the Communication group.
- Test both channels with a squadmate before deployment.
Current launch guides report J for squad push-to-talk and K for proximity push-to-talk on the default PC layout. Bindings may change or be customised, so the in-game Keybinds screen is the source of truth.
Useful communication pattern
Say the target, direction, distance and urgency: “tank, north road, 200 metres, moving west.” A clear binocular mark is more valuable than repeated vague pings. Team text is useful when nobody nearby shares your voice channel.
Microphone troubleshooting
- Confirm Windows input permission and the selected default device.
- Disable exclusive control for the microphone if another application keeps taking it.
- Restart the game after switching audio devices.
- Install the latest client hotfix; Season 1 fixed voice permanently cutting out after a failed join.
- Restore one binding at a time if custom keys conflict.
